When I started my Flow series I had no idea where it would take me. After Awakening, my first painting from that series, was not only accepted into the City of Brea Art Gallery 2016 Made in California exhibit, but was also featured on the cover of the exhibit catalog and won the third place award, it confirmed I was headed in the right direction with my art. Now, I am incredibly excited that once again two paintings from my Flow series, Mystery and Desert Awakening, will be featured at the 32nd Annual Made in California Juried Exhibition opening on May 6th.
Going With the Flow
Mystery captures a moment of uncertainty as an abstract figure walks away and the rest is up to the viewer.
“My latest series, Flow, is the best representation yet of my evolution as an artist and a person. I love layering so I start with my favorite texture and then pour paint multiple times, allowing it to flow. Some days I use minimal colors and sometimes there is an explosion of reds, blues, and white. This process of layering, building, and then learning to let go, trust, and allow the magic to happen is how I have learned to deal with life. I never know what the outcome will be until the process is complete. Whether it turns into a face, a mountain, a wave or something else, I truly enjoy discovering where the paint takes me and what people see in its flow.”
Desert Awakening is inspired by the still yet hauntingly beautiful desert.
