To understand the soul of this artwork, you must first know my daily ritual. Every morning begins in quiet reflection. Specifically, I practice a morning meditation rooted in the Oneness Movement.
For me, meditation is not just a routine. Instead, it serves as the absolute engine of my creative expression.

Currently, I live and work in beautiful Laguna Beach. I am incredibly fortunate because I am surrounded by endless, breathtaking coastal inspiration. In fact, the ocean acts as a central character in my daily life. I love to watch the light hit the shifting Pacific tides. Likewise, I observe the dynamic froth of the crashing waves. Soon, the sheer vastness of the horizon seeps deep into my subconscious mind.
Over time, water has truly become my friend. Furthermore, it has become my primary creative partner.

Behind the Canvas: Partnering with Water and Paint
Translating a meditative state into a physical form requires a highly disciplined technique. For example, I let water and paint dance together across the canvas surface. This piece is a carefully calculated balance of timing, chemistry, and complete surrender.
What I love most about working with water and acrylic paint is how completely organic and healthy the process feels for my senses. Instead of forcing rigid shapes with synthetic tools, I let the liquid mediums move naturally. This creates a soothing, sensory experience while I paint. Consequently, that restorative energy transfers directly onto the canvas for the viewer to enjoy.
The Dramatic Foundation: The journey began with the background layer. I expertly airbrushed the canvas using Payne’s gray. This color provides a deep, velvety, atmospheric alternative to flat black. As a result, it gives the entire piece an immediate sense of infinite, oceanic depth.
The Living Pour: Next, the painting truly came to life. I used an intricate pouring process. I mixed actual water with my acrylic paints to guide the natural, organic shapes. Water acts as a co-creator here. Consequently, the paint flows across the canvas with a genuine liquid logic. A standard brush could never replicate this organic effect.
The Art of Patience: This method requires immense trust. It is very different from traditional brushwork. I carefully built the composition layer by layer. I waited completely between each individual pour for the mediums to cure. This quiet patience kept the colors crisp. Therefore, the vibrant cerulean blues, shimmering silvers, and translucent teals sit cleanly on top of one another without muddying. It creates an otherworldly, bioluminescent transparency.
