Clara Berta is a working artist of Hungarian descent, currently living and working in Downtown Los Angeles, her new studio location which inspires her daily. A very prolific fine art painter, she creates mixed media abstract art at her sunny BertaArt Studio Gallery, where she maintains a large inventory of work in various sizes. In this video filmed on location in her studio gallery, she talks about contemporary art, her process, inspiration, advice for emerging artists, the importance of community involvement and networking.
Clara loves being part of the DTLA art community, and enjoys giving back through her multi-level art classes and by donating her time and work to select charities. Her location is also a new listing on the Downtown LA Art Walk map, which has brought her new art enthusiasts every month during her open studio hours of 3-8PM every second Thursday (and otherwise by appointment).
A spirited and creative hard working artist, Clara is also very easy to work with, and has recently been busy painting modern abstract art for several local interior decorators who love her vibrant and highly textured large paintings. She is an award-winning artist, most recently earning the Third Place Prize for her submission to Brea Gallery’s “Made in California” exhibit, out of over 1,100 entries. A testament to her creativity, the painting that received the award was the first piece of a brand new series, and was actually sold to a collector in Chicago before the show even opened! It has now inspired a new collection called The Flow Series, many of them in her favorite shades of blue, which she finds very calming and spiritual.
As she explains in the video, painting is about connecting to the canvas and releasing your emotions. One way Clara connects is actually painting with her hands (although she also uses brushes, palette knives and sponges!) You can feel her passion as she says “I love my process!” You will too!
